One service the campus offers is the Hereford Learning Resource Center, which is a computer lab, ACcess Learning Center and resource center all in one.
“The center has been dealt many hats,” said Shelia Pierce, an instructor at the facility.
The center allows students to get extra help on anything, including computers and homework.
Resource books are available for students at the center.
“We are in the process of revamping the program,” Pierce said.
Employees aim to model the center on the Washington Street Campus’s center.
The Hereford center is easy to access, and there is a lounge for students to use while studying, complete with microwave and refrigerator.
Hereford Campus officials hope to offer test reviews for the math developmental classes in the future.
Pierce is working with the developmental teachers to help students. She said she hopes to have videos available for math developmental students who need extra help.
Those seeking help in math, reading or writing can enroll in BAC, which is an at-your-own-pace program.
“The center is available not only to the students; it is also available to the community,” said Daniel Esquivel, executive director of the Hereford Campus.
Esquivel said high school students, junior high students or anyone needing a refresher in math, reading or writing is welcome to sign up.
Some instructors even choose to use the lab for their classes.
“I like the center because it is convenient to get to, and it is open late,” said Megan Moore, a radiography major.
Computers and a copier are available for use.
The charge for the devices is 5 cents per page for printing and 10 cents per page for copies.
“I can actually afford to print or copy in the resource center. Other places can charge up to five times as much per page,” said Moore.
Hours for the Learning Center are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.
The computer lab in the center is open from 8 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
