For parents looking for alternative summer plans for their children, registration for Amarillo College’s summer program, Kids College, started Monday.

Children age 14 and under are eligible to be enrolled.

Ascension Academy will host the Kids College Camp sessions, which include dance, math, science and other academic programs.

Other activity-oriented sessions, including babysitting, beauty and style and cheerleading classes, will be conducted mostly on the Washington Street Campus. The classes will have different start times depending on age classification.

"The Kids College through AC is a very good program,” said Linda Ritchey, a mother of children who have attended the program. “There are many different classes to choose from, and kids really do enjoy them."

The program ranges from art to gymnastics.

"I would gladly send my children to the program when they become of age," said Denisa Johnson, a mother of two. "I have heard nothing but good come from the Kids College program."

Parents can register at any assistance center on any AC campus. A registration form also can be printed at the Kids College Web site at http://www.actx.edu/pe and faxed or mailed. An online version of the catalog is available on the Kids College Web site, and inquiries can be made by calling 371-2920.
