Final Common Reader discussion scheduled

On Friday, the last of five Common Reader possibilities for the 2010-11 school year will be discussed. A group will meet to discuss When the Emperor Was Divine, by Julie Otsuka.

The Common Reader program is part of the First Year Experience and gives first-year students a common topic to discuss and connect on.

The discussion will be at noon Friday in room 113 in the Lynn Library.

Campus to close for spring break

Next week is spring break.

There will be no classes during the week, and the campuses will be closed March 18 through March 21.

Classes are scheduled to resume March 22.

SGA provides drunk driving simulation

The Student Govern­ment Association will host a driving-under-the-influence virtual simulator today to make students aware of the dangers of drunk driving.

The simulator is the size of an actual car.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the clock tower on the Washington Street Campus.

The program is open to students and faculty.

Free “mocktails,” a “‘Root Beer Pong” table and information on how to have a safe spring break will be provided.

West Campus to host open house

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, Amarillo College will host an open house for its rapidly growing renewable energy/wind technology program that started last year.

The program has been receiving numerous donations and will open its doors to show the progress since the launch.

The open house will be in building T on the West Campus.
