The 12th annual Writer’s Roundup will take place Saturday in 101 Ordway Hall.
The competition is open to students enrolled in an Amarillo College English course.
Deadline for registration is 11 a.m. Friday. Registration forms can be submitted in 103 Ordway Hall.
Writers can opt to compete in three categories: developmental, freshman or sophomore. Prize money will be given to winners in each category.
The event is sponsored by the Amarillo College English department.

Dr. Stephen Wegren of Southern Methodist University will speak Feb. 25 as part of the Creative Minds lecture series.
The first lecture will take place at 12:30 p.m. and will cover the political trends in Russia under President Dmitri Medvedev. The lecture will be in the College Union Building’s Oak Room on the Washington Street Campus.
At 7:30 p.m., Wegren will cover the social and economic trends in Russia under Medvedev. The second lecture will be in the Business and Industry Center auditorium at 1314 S. Polk.
All Creative Minds lectures are free to the public.
Amarillo College will host Region VI of the 2010 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, which will take place Feb. 23-27 at the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts as well as at the college.
The festival serves more than 18,000 college and university theater students per year. Region VI includes Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
The Amarillo On the Border restaurant will aid Amarillo College’s Phi Theta Kappa student organization Tuesday.
The restaurant will donate 10 percent of the purchase price of meals when customers mention PTK.
On the Border is located at 2041 S. Soncy. It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
