Each new day brings change. Change brings wisdom. Wisdom brings understanding. Understanding brings growth. Discovering who you are is extremely important to your life.
We all will reach crossroads in our lives where we will have to make decisions that impact our lives forever.
With each change, we grow and discover more about our inner being, our core. How do we do that? Well, if you have never been skydiving, I guess the only way you would know would be to jump out of the plane and go for it.
We as human beings have the tendency to resist change. It's almost as if we are scared of it. Are we setting ourselves up to fail?
One of the keys to figuring out who we are is to communicate with the world around us.
Maybe the answers are before our eyes. Think outside your box. Get involved in your community and meet people.
Last Tuesday, I went to the Baptist Student Ministry. There was a guy standing outside passing out fliers and talking to people about the free lunch BSM provides on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At first I wasn't sure that I really wanted to go. But hey, free lunch … heck, yes!
I am very glad that I decided to go. Everyone there was extremely nice, and even though I was new to the scene, I felt that many opportunities awaited me. Go Week is one of the opportunities.
While everyone ate lunch, the BSM put on a video about Go Week. Go Week is basically where you go out and reach out.
For example, this past Saturday, they planned on going to East Ridge Park and interacting with children in that area.
They planned activities, food and games, and most important, connecting one-on-one with the kids.
I definitely was engaged. Needless to say, I had an epiphany. I had never done something like this before. The people from the BSM made me want to reach out and touch others' lives.
It definitely gave me a broader perspective on the way I perceived life. A chain of love. A chain of wisdom. A chain of understanding.
A change of growth. Change. I did something different, something outside my box.
Maybe the answers are right in front of our eyes. I'm not talking about looking at a reflection of myself in the mirror.
I'm talking about looking at others' reflections.
