In-state tuition should not be awarded to illegal immigrants

If a student from Arizona or any other U.S. state wanted to attend Amarillo College, they would have to pay out-of-state tuition.
Out-of-state costs can be as much as three times more than in-state. Persons considered to be permanent residents of Texas pay much lower tuition than those who come from other states.
If illegal immigrants come across the border and desire to go to college in Texas, however, they have the luxury of paying instate tuition because of the DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act passed in 2003.
Illegal immigrants who enroll in college in Texas must meet certain criteria.
For example, they have to have been living in Texas (illegally) for three years, have graduated from a state high school and sign an affidavit stating that they have or will file for legal residency.
It seems unreasonable that illegal aliens would even be allowed to attend college or high school in the United States. After all, they are breaking the law.
And if they meet all the criteria listed above, they have been breaking U.S. law for a long period of time.
The government is sending a corrupt message to the people.
Americans who break the law get punished, but illegal aliens who break the law get rewarded.
It is a true injustice that illegal immigrants have the advantage of paying in-state tuition over legal U.S. residents.
Those in positions of power should respect the legal citizens, who pay the taxes that fund their salaries, over illegal immigrants.
The government also should enforce the laws that already are in place and encourage immigrants to become legal residents before attending college.
