Everyone is aware that AC offers academic classes, continuing education, music, photography and the list goes on and on.
But does AC offer anything fun and entertaining? The answer is "Yes." AC hosts concerts, recitals, plays and more each semester.
Waiting to get groovy with some jazz? Well, the wait is over.
Afro-Peruvian Jazz is coming. A presentation of Peruvian culture and music is set for noon Monday in the Oak Room of the College Union Building along with a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Concert Hall Theater.
Dr. Jim Laughlin, a music professor, is correlating several jazz artists and concerts for this semester.
"Bringing artists and concerts to Amarillo will expose students and the community to jazz," Laughlin said.
In 2006, Laughlin created the nonprofit Amarillo Jazz Society. "The Amarillo Jazz Society is seeking grant money to further jazz in Amarillo," he said. To create and maintain a student scholarship program is one of the many functions that the Amarillo Jazz Society plans to accomplish.
