Amarillo College lost two faculty members in August, one former and one current.

A.M. Johnson Jr., who taught geology, died Aug. 8.

Roland Arndt, a golf instructor, died Aug. 24.

Johnson taught geology at AC for 29 years. He retired in 1985.

A scholarship in his memory hasbeen set up by the AC Foundation, and the public is welcome to make a contribution.

A funeral for Johnson took place Aug. 10 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Arndt was known for his thorough approach to teaching golf. He had battled cancer for a long period of time. Even though he was sick and going through chemotherapy, he always was present at class.

A memorial service for Arndt took place Aug. 26 at Paramount Terrace Christian Church.
