Living together before marriage creates problems for some, but not for Sandy and Sean Harvey.
"We lived together in Borger for six months and then moved to Amarillo and lived together for four months before we got married," said Sandy, a general studies major who attends the Moore County Campus in Dumas.
"I think it is a good idea for couples to live together before they get married, because they get to know their partner's 'real side,'" she said. "They get to know each other's habits and their qualities, good and bad. Instead of letting them fool you, you get to find out that they don't just have one side to them - the good side."
Even around churchgoers, Sandy said, people did not treat them differently because of their choice to live together.
"No one treated us any differently," she said.
"My mom didn't like the idea at all," she said.
Sandy and Sean have been married for a little more than two years and are expecting their first child Oct. 14.
Sandy works at the Whistle Stop Café and Sean works at Hartley Feeders, both in Hartley.
