DUMAS - Who would have known that the issue of the board meeting would be what color the paper is, what color is easier to read and what size the type needs to be to read?
The board of regents meeting was Tuesday night in the Dumas school district board room.
In addition to discussing the paper their meeting materials were printed on, the regents heard Matt Johnson, president of the Student Government Association, report on the SGA state trip to Dallas.
Johnson listed the awards received as follows:
* Region I Chapter of the Year,
* Scrapbook - honorable mention
* Song - second place
* Media - honorable mention
* Essay - first place
* Project of the Year - first place.
Teresa Schrock served as state secretary, and Brett Hyndman served as regional secretary.
Johnson said everyone helped represent the school in a positive way.
Regents Chairman David Woodburn awarded a plaque to Johnson for outstanding service to AC and read aloud a letter that AC President Dr. Steven Jones wrote.
"We are so proud of Matt," Jones said.
Johnson's night didn't end there. New booklets and advertising campaigns were distributed, and a commercial was aired.
In the 30-second commercial that will be aired on television in May, Johnson and other students said they are not their lastest test score.
The television commercial focuses on the message that AC doesn't care where a student has been; it cares where the student is going.
In other business, the board approved the following faculty promotions:
Instructor to Assistant Professor
* Mindy Adams - Teacher Education Center
* Jan Cannon - nursing
* Gil Carnahan - electronics technology
* Edie Carter - mathematics
* Kathryn Hoover - library
* Michael Kopenits - biologyical Sciences
* Mark Usnick - computer information systems
