Young girls dream of their wedding day their whole life. The dress, the ring, the cake, the flowers and the man.
But after all the guests have gone and the food is eaten, there finally is a moment alone with your new partner.
"We went to CancĂșn, Mexico," said Monica Eubanks, a business administration major who married in July 2001.
"We'd never been there before, and I'd never been to the beach, so we agreed on that together. It was fun, but the food was disgusting," Eubanks said.
Whether jet-setting the Caribbean, diving with the sharks in Hawaii or eating bad food in CancĂșn, a honeymoon is supposed to be the beginning of a couple's life together.
Since most couples get only one honeymoon, it should be one to remember.
"I'm gonna take two honeymoons," said Levi Addy, a radio-TV major.
"I'll take her to Juarez, Mexico, first. If we can have fun there, then we can have fun anywhere.
"If everything goes well, I'll take her skydiving and scuba diving and to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia."
He plans to wed his bride next year.
"I would really like to go to Madrid, Spain, to run with the bulls," said Autumn Ward, a radiography major. "But I don't think they let girls do it, so I'll think of somewhere else in a minute."
There are many places you could go for romance, such as Paris, a castle in Ireland, Jamaica, a two-week cruise or maybe just the bed and breakfast in Canyon.
"OK, if they don't let girls run with the bulls, then I would want to go to Rome," Ward said.
"It's supposed to be one of the most romantic places in the world, and it's somewhere different and out of the country."
Planning for a honeymoon can be quite rigorous, too.
There is a ton of things on the couple's plate with all the wedding plans, guests, invitations, food and everything else.
Several travel agencies will find the best deals on honeymoon packages and let the purchaser begin making payments on it up to a year before you go.
"We used Creative Travel here in Amarillo, and they let us pay it off six months in advance," Eubanks said.
"It was actually pretty cheap, too; only about $1,200, and the plane tickets were included in the package."
Maybe it's luck, and the in-laws are giving the newlyweds a honeymoon getaway for a wedding present.
Another alternative is to save big bucks for the getaway.
Whatever the case may be, a honeymoon still takes a lot of planning.
"I have a friend who lives in Venice, so there's a big chunk of money we can spend on seeing the rest of Europe," Ward said.
"But I am still going to use a travel agent."
If anyone is planning on tying the knot anytime soon, remember this: The wedding is for the bride.
The honeymoon is for the two of you.
