Tamara Bates is a psychology major at Amarillo College.
"I like AC because of the people and the teachers most of all," Bates said. "The teachers are wonderful and are always willing to help students out."
Bates is a psychology tutor at AC.
She said she volunteers her time for Special Olympics and also goes out to Texas Panhandle Mental Health/Mental Retardation to spend time with clients.
Bates said she loves to give back to others.
"I plan to get my Ph.D. in psychology, because I would like to be a counselor someday so that I can help people with their lives every day," she said.
Bates is enrolled in Dr. Deann Merchant's psychology course.
"I think that Dr. Merchant is a great professor," Bates said. "She is very passionate about psychology. She tells great and interesting stories and is very entertaining.
"Dr. Merchant makes psychology come to life, and I love attending her class."
