Oscars honor best of 2009

Sunday night played host to the 82nd annual Academy Awards. With multiple record-breaking movies released last year, there were many close calls for the winners. Among the winners was The Hurt Locker for Best Picture.

Other winners in some of the main categories were Jeff Bridges for Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Crazy Heart, Christoph Waltz for Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Inglourious Basterds, Sandra Bullock for Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in The Blind Side, Mo’Nique for Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Precious, Up for Animated Feature Film, Avatar for Art Direction and for Cinematography, The Young Victoria for Costume Design and The Hurt Locker for Directing.

Football star accused of sexual assault again

For the second time in the past year, Ben Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual assault.

A woman is claiming that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback attacked her in a restroom while at a nightclub in Georgia. Details about the attack have not been released, and Roethlisberger and his representatives are denying the accusations.

Pictures from the night, showing the alleged victim and Roethlisberger together, have begun to surface.

Weekend has record turnout for date with Alice

Alice in Wonderland officially has beaten Avatar’s opening weekend record. Alice now holds the title for the highest grossing opening weekend sales of a non-sequel film and is the No. 1 movie in America.

Alice takes viewers back into Wonderland with a 19-year-old Alice.

The movie was directed by Tim Burton and features Johnny Depp.
