Pianist to discuss faith, life, music
A four-part conference, "Christianity and Culture: All that Jazz," will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The conference speaker, Dr. William Edgar, will discuss in Part 1, "Faith: A Jazz Cadence," and in Part 2, "Jazz and Life."
The following night will be Parts 3 and 4. Part 3 is titled "Harmony out of Chaos," and Part 4 is "Suffering and Grace Through Music."
All four parts will be in the Concert Hall Theater on the Washington Street Campus.
The conference is free. Donations are accepted.
Suzuki Program hosts fundraiser
The Suzuki Program fundraiser will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes and Noble bookstore.
The performance fundraiser will ensue as follows:
9:30 a.m.: beginning students
10 a.m.: violin, viola, cello
11 a.m.: violin, viola, cello
1 p.m.: advanced student ensemble
A portion of all purchases will benefit the AC Suzuki Program.
All customers should mention Suzuki when they check out.
Local poet to sign award-winning book
The AC English department and Sigma Kappa Delta are sponsoring a poetry reading and book signing of Wild Flight by local author Christine Rhein.
The event will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Concert Hall Theater.
Wild Flight is the winner of the Walt McDonald First-Book Competition in poetry.
Amarillo Civic Chorus to perform
The Amarillo Civic Chorus is set to perform Saturday at the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance will begin at 8 p.m.

Jazz pianist York to play Saturday
Jazz pianist Pamela York will perform Saturday.
Admission is free.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall Theater.

Jan. 20 will be the first day of classes and the last day to register.
Late registration will run through Jan. 23.
