Lamplight Theatre performing 'The Christmas Doll' this month

Lights, camera, action! Delight yourself this Christmas season with a dramatic musical performed by the Lamplight Youth Theatre.
Sharing a message of courage and hope, the Lamplight Youth Theatre will perform the musical The Christmas Doll, by Joan Cushing.
"I am amazed at the talent of these young people," said Cynthia Koetting, Lamplight Youth Theatre director.
"I want the residents of Amarillo to know our name, and I want them to see our production based on our reputation for bringing quality performances to the stage."
"I thought I was going to be a physical therapist. I had my heart set on it," Koetting said.
But she fell in love with theater as her seventh major. She said she is privileged to be able to perform this selection for the second time as she begins her fifth season as director.
Fifty-four young people from ages 6 to 18 will bring talent to the stage, playing three to five characters each. The cast is set double with 27 in each show.
In addition,there are 12 crew members propping pieces in place and on time for each show.
The children act, dance and sing. For some, theater is a sport the children love, and it also can be a building block for their careers. For others, it simply is a fun way to build confidence.
The children all take classes at Amarillo College as well as perform their shows in Ordway Auditorium.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Bonnie or Cynthia at the Lamplight Youth Theatre at 371-5353. Tickets are priced at $5 for children, $8 for college students or senior citizens and $10 for adults.
