I would like to comment on this young lady's article (Rachel Nelson, April 19 Ranger). I agree with her on some things. The main thing is you should love someone no matter what they do or who they are. The thing I do not agree with her on is her saying people are not born gay. Being a mother of a gay son, I too have had some questions about why this is so. I studied things that helped me better understand. One of them was an article I read on a study about gay men. They did autopsies and studies on gay men who agreed to be studied upon their death. These men all had one thing in common: their hypothalmus gland was larger than that of a heterosexual man. This gland is the huge difference and can explain many questions about homosexuality. I have been raised in church my whole life and taught that this was wrong as I can tell you were. The place you were talking about that says they help people get over being gay: Are the people doing what is expected of them and going the other direction to make others happy? I have never questioned God, but a few times in my life this is one question I would love to get an answer to. Can you not think of this almost the same as a child having ADHD or a child being born with a special need or cerebral palsy? A child with ADHD is helped with medication, but there is no medication for this. I should get off my soapbox for now. Please consider my comments and see if it changes your thoughts on why people are gay.
