Ceremonies set for Wednesday, Thursday

The Nursing Division has two pinning ceremonies planned for this week. The ceremonies are part of a long tradition honoring nursing students as they successfully complete this phase of their nursing education.
The ceremonies are:

The Amarillo College student publications staffs for the fall 2008 semester have been announced.
Josh Godsey will be editor of the student newspaper, The Ranger, and Maddisun Fowler will be editor of the student magazine, AC Current.
Joshua Correa will be AC Current assistant editor.

In the summer of 1191, Richard the Lionheart laid siege to the city of Acre as part of the medieval Crusades. The duke assembled a machine that was employed to smash an enemy's masonry walls and throw projectiles over them: the trebuchet.
When used in the 12th century, a trebuchet could fling 300-pound objects at high speeds into enemy fortifications.

Just north of the Amarillo College Washington Street Campus is the Amarillo Museum of Art.
Surrounding the building is a handful of sculptures that broach heights above the tallest of people.
Since April 17 and through Friday, a walk inside and up the stairs brings visitors to an exhibition of student work.

Students and ex-students received awards at the Honors Convocation April 20 at the Amarillo Civic Center.
Students received awards for Academic Excellence, Alpha Beta Gamma Business Honor Society, Blue Blazers, Honors Program, Phi Theta Kappa Members, Regents Excellence and Achievement Scholarships, Sigma Kappa Delta, Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges, and for Outstanding Majors.

In the summer of 2007, guitarist Hobbs Magaret was preparing for a gig and he needed a little backup. He contacted bassist Matt Cassetty, who called guitarist Chris Winters, who called drummer Brent Klein, and quickly a band was formed.
"And then the magic happened," Winters said of the band's immediate chemistry.
