College students finally are getting a break, but it’s not in the classroom. Various companies and organizations are starting to participate in offering student discounts for their services. Student discounts are available for students in various categories. In Amarillo, there are several opportunities where being a student can pay off, and college students actually can save money.
Rental & Insurance
Many students feel the heavy burden of expenses. From paying rent and tuition to books and gas, students constantly are spending money and trying to make ends meet.
Students have tremendous stress in college, and one form of help they can receive is through a rental discount. Discounts are available at many Amarillo apartment complexes. Those apartments offering the discounts include:

The discount is offered to students and is an excellent money-saver for those on a budget.
Many students who attend West Texas A&M University live in Amarillo. Commuting can be expensive for students, because of high gas prices.
For WT students who don’t live on campus or in Canyon, having to pay gas is enough to worry about. For students who attend Amarillo College, it is a great discount to live in the same area as their school. The discount helps students maintain their housing arrangements without going broke.
Another discount that students can qualify for is for auto insurance. Insurance is something anyone who owns a car has to have. With discounts, students are able to maintain their insurance without paying outrageous policy rates.
There can be an incentive to insurance discounts, and it’s based on your grades. If you are a student who makes good grades, this discount is definitely for you. Geico offers such a discount; students must maintain a B average or higher to be eligible. Allstate and State Farm also have student discount programs.
Entertainment
With the weekends, many college students like to relax and have some fun. One form of entertainment many students participate in is going to the movies, and Amarillo theaters offer student discounts. At the UA Amarillo Star Stadium 14, the regular admission price for adults is $8.25. Students can receive a discount Monday through Thursday and pay only $7.25 just by presenting their student IDs.
At Cinemark Hollywood 16, the regular admission price for adults is $7.75. Students pay only $7 after presenting their student IDs. It can be a great discount for students who want to kick back and relax after a long week of school.
Theater is another form of entertainment where students can receive discounts off regular admission. At the Amarillo Little Theater, students can receive anywhere from $2 to $3 off regular admission. The ALT performs both plays and musicals.
Travel
When students want to travel from school back to visit their hometowns, they can receive discounts on airfare. Many students also like to travel for spring break, when they can receive discounts on airfare as well as hotels.
School is expensive, but being a college student does have its perks, and many students are saving money with discounts.
