A love story that captures the idea that we are nothing without love, the film Across the Universe expresses how truly vain life can be without it.

Jude (played by Jim Sturgess) embarks on an exciting adventure starting from home (Liverpool) to America.

He comes across new friends (Max, played by Joe Anderson), old family and a lover (Lucy, played by Evan Rachel Wood) that will change him forever.

Despite the inevitable trials he and his friends face, the pain and adversity all seem to point back to love.

It's a musical composed with all Beatles songs. Popular songs such as "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "Hey Jude" and "All You Need is Love" are the backbone of the plot.

Director Julie Taymor helps moviegoers experience why the Beatles wrote the songs and where the inspiration came from.

Although no actual Beatles characters ever appear in the movie, their musical influence plays an integral role in the film.

Composer Elliot Goldenthal illustrates beautifully the impact the songs had on the Beatles' generation and how death, heartache, joy and passion all are a part of this thing we call life.

The music is subtle and creates room for optimal vocal impact. The words really hit you as you find yourself understanding their meaning. They portray how beliefs, revolutions and passion all are nothing without love and that we can believe what we believe, but it's our loved ones who keep us going.

The movie is one of the most creative and beautiful films I've ever seen. The film really makes you feel what the characters are going through.

Whether it's a drug high or a just a tough situation the characters have gotten themselves into, the cinematography really does its job. Some scenes seem to have hidden meanings.

All in all, the film definitely impacts you with the beautiful mixture of music and message.

A love story with the perspective of a generation embracing peace and aware of love's effect on the world, Across The Universe truly shows that through our struggles, poverty and war, love covers all.
