Great food, local artists and live musical talent all in one package.
If you are tired of the same old places to go eat out, then broaden your prospective.
When it comes to eating in Amarillo, there is much to choose from. You just need to know where to look. I had the great pleasure of eating at one of the restaurants that many may not know about, and I sure am glad I did.
Napoli's Italian Restaurant, located downtown at 700 S. Taylor St., is the perfect place for the college student on a budget to dine and not break the bank. With filling portions and weekend entertainment, you can't go wrong.
"I was surprised at how much food I got at a very little cost," said Jordan Kimball, an AC alumnus. "I think I'll try to make it back on a Friday or Saturday evening and check out the live music on the patio. "
Personally, I was happy all-around with the service I received. The staff was attentive to us, and our food came out in a timely matter. We visited Napoli's during the day, around 2 p.m., and even then the restaurant was not hurting for customers, so that's a true test of how good the food is for a great value.
Let's face it, a college student always is in need of a good meal, but we can't always afford the more pricey restaurants in town.
Napoli's menu has several items to choose from. You can choose from a variety of pizza, pasta and subs.
The menu has some great choices with the pasta, which happens to be my favorite. I had chicken pasta but also got to sample the shrimp and crab pasta, and it all was delightful. I plan to go back soon to try the pizza. I saw several people around me enjoying the pizza, and it looked as if it were packed full of flavor.
If you are interested in local artists of the Texas Panhandle, it's the right place to go.
The walls are adorned with beautiful art. If you're a fan of photography, it's the place to go and check out the work by Ralph Duke.
If you enjoy canvas paintings, you will love all the work by Rome Milan and Rick Farley that is displayed wonderfully on the walls around. It's a tantalizing sight to see while you are dining on the wonderful Italian food.
"We had it catered to us in a work meeting last week," said Calla Walshe. "It was surprisingly really yummy. I had heard that it wasn't that great when you dine there. We had the lasagna, garlic bread, and salad. The bread was by far my favorite."
If you are looking for something to do, visiting Napoli's patio area on a Friday or Saturday night is not a bad idea. The business features local talent such as Tennessee Tuckness on the weekends.
It would be a great place to bring the family and relax after a stressful work week - or a stressful school week.
It's refreshing to see locally owned restaurants not only cater to local customers but also to help showcase the local talent we have in the area. It surely shows that the owners care about Amarillo and want to see it continue to advance.
I think everyone should try this restaurant downtown. With the homemade breads, seafood specials and wonderful pasta, there is sure to be something to fit anyone's personal tastes.
